"Star Cuts #1 thru #6" & others
by Fred Van Sant

Fred Van Sant Collection (450 + designs)
3-hole drilled no binder - $79.95

For those of you who do not know Fred or are new to the hobby of faceting... Fred Van Sant was one of the pioneers of faceting designs. His designs are still used through out the world today and quite a few of his designs are considered all time classics.

This books consists of Fred's "Star Cuts" #1 thru #6, a design set of "Extra" designs and a set of various cuts that he never really published. This is basically Fred Van Sant's complete library of work.

This collection contains over 450 designs in all... This collection is a must for anybody that likes to collect designs. Note: These are copies of Fred's original drawings and the copy quality is only fair, they are all perfectly legiable. Fred had/has been using these originals a long time and they are not perfect. The pages are double sided to help save on postage costs (there is almost 300 pages double sided).

In my opinion... Fred's designs are about the only ones that I recommend to people (besides mine of course).

I recommend my designs if you want ray traces, light returns, and more complete user friendly cutting instructions...

If you want to see or cut a few of Fred's designs for free, Bob's Rockshop has 12 Barion ovals online that are public domain...

Note: Some of these designs are older (before ray tracing), and they are not all proof cut (other than people cutting them for the last 30 years or so). There are no ray traces or light return figures on any of these designs. There are cutting instructions, but they are brief and not necessarily instructions that a new faceter will find easy to understand.

But there is a lot of good designs in this collection and the price is quite reasonable...
