This material is found in the rivers of Montana. It is an agate and like all agates very hard and will wear very well in any jewelry application. As you can see the material comes in various shades of clear, black, brown, and orange. The pinks and lavender colors are very rare. Montana agate is very easy to work with when making jewelry and it's unique colors and translucency make outstanding finished stone for any collection.

Note: A good way to mount and use Montana agate in jewelry is to leave the back open so light can show through the stone. The back of these cabs are polished for that reason.
