Ocean Jasper is a fairly new find from Madagascar. The discovery of this material (the way I heard the story) was... This material is found in the ocean, around the shallows near the beaches (hence the name). One day somebody was walking out in the shallows after the tide had just gone out. They happened to pick a water worn stone up and look at it and discovered, hey this is jasper! The material had been sitting there undiscovered for centuries. The material is usually found in small to large, sometimes huge pieces of rock that is just laying in the shallow water, near the tide line.

The swirls and shapes look like and were some type of ancient sea creatures or plants. The material has a wide range of colors and is in decent supply but some of the mining areas are starting to play out.
